Voltison are proposing a co-located Solar and Battery Storage scheme at a site in Spennymoor, North East England. Spanning just over 170 hectares, the project will combine 99.9 MW of clean solar generation with a 100 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on a 4-hour system, delivering a combined capacity of just under 200 MW. At peak output, the site will generate enough clean energy to power 70,000 households, while the BESS will store surplus energy during periods of low demand for release when it’s needed most.
